Sadpara Lake is at an elevation of 8,650 feet above sea level and is spread over an area of 2.5 km². Sadpara lake is near Skardu. Sadpara Lake is also called “Satpara Lake”. The melting ice of deosai plains is the main source of sadpara lake which provides fresh drinking water to the Skardu Valley.
This is a freshwater lake, a dam is also being constructed, this dam will enhance the water capacity of the lake and also the breathtaking views and beauty of the lake. Satpara Dam is a medium-sized multi-purpose concrete-faced earth-filled dam located downstream from Satpara Lake on the Satpara Stream approximately 4 km from the town of Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.
How to reach a heavenly beautiful lake?
From Skardu Bazar, a road turns towards Sadpara Village. After crossing Sadpara village, Sadpara Lake occurs. On the zig-zagged road, Sadpara Lake is an extremely beautiful spot. This road is without safeguards means no guardrail on the edge. On the one side are tall gigantic mountains; on the other a deep steep (KHAI). The person traveling on the road first time feels his heart sinking. Owing to dangerous roads, the journey towards the lake is often called “A Wilderness in Peril”. Yet, keeping in view the scenic beauty of Deosai and sadpara lake, this is not an expensive deal. The lake is reached almost 20 minutes by jeep drive from Skardu.

This lake is famous as “Gold lake” because its water seems to be very shining in the daytime. Among the local people, a story about this lake is famous. They believe that there is a gold mine at the bottom of this lake. This lake is a very hot point among tourists because of its marvelous and breathtaking beauty. Beautiful Island and Motel
A small beautiful desert island located in the middle of the lake fully surrounded by crystal-clear fresh water. A beautiful Government Motel is located on side of the island but unfortunately when the dam will complete this beautiful island and motel will disappear into the water. This is a fairy-tale-pleasing island in the center of the lake. Tourists can access this island by boating.
During boating, tourists enjoy the eye-catching views of the lake, and the large mountains surrounding the lake which give a breathtaking view. The lake’s crystal-clear waters present a marvelous and picturesque view to visitors by mirroring the freezing mountains; encircled around the lake.

Tourists can spend a memorable day at the bank of the lake. They can enjoy camping, fishing, motorboating, and rowing at the lake. June to September are the summer months here, but if you want beauty and serenity, then come in the last week of September. October is also a good month to visit the lake. In winter, you will enjoy heavy snowfall here, but the roads are blocked due to heavy snowfall. So, plan your tour in the summer months and make it memorable and enjoy the picturesque views of the lake and the beauty of Pakistan’s northern areas.
