The closest international airport to arrive at for the Shimshal Pass Trek is Islamabad International Airport. After a friendly greeting at the Islamabad Airport, our representative will take you to the hotel so you may relax. After spending one night in Islamabad, you will head north to Naran Town, where you will spend the night. En route, you will cross some historical towns, Taxila, Hassan Abdal and Abbottabad. Situated in the verdant Naran Valley, Naran Town is a well-liked destination for short vacations among domestic travelers.

Following your overnight stay in Naran, you will travel on the Naran Road to Karimabad, where you will connect with the well-known Karakoram Highway and enjoy breathtaking views of the Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi (7,788m) mountains. The capital of the Hunza Valley in current times is Karimabad. Here, you may discover the neighborhood bazaar, the 700-year-old Baltit and Altit Forts, which are recognized by UNESCO, and take in the breathtaking dawn view from the Eagle Nest viewpoint. You will travel down the Hunza River on the Karakoram Highway to reach Shimshal hamlet today after spending two nights in Karimabad.

Shimshal Village is the highest village in the Shimshal Valley, at 3,100 meters above sea level. You will spend the rest of the afternoon touring Shimshal Village and getting to know the locals after arriving there in the early afternoon. Today is the first day of the Shimshal Pass Trek, which will take you towards the Pastfurzeen campsite after spending the night in Shimshal. To get to Garsar, where you will enjoy lunch with breathtaking views of the mountains, you will have to cross two rivers. Spend the night in the Pastfurzeen campsite’s tent under the stars.

Next day, after breakfast you will continue your epic walking trek to Arobab Peryeen camp by crossing Pamirthung and Chichan Bridge. After hiking to Shuijarab, spend one more lovely night at the camp under the canvas. The Shimshali people live at Shuijarab, which is their summer herding settlement. For three to four months, shepherds from Shimshal Valley reside here with their sheep, goats, and yaks. In their summer villages, you will get the chance to interact with the Shimshali People and have conversations with the Shepards

After spending two nights at the summer settlements with the Shepards, you will climb to Shimshal Pass today. Here, on the verdant meadow, you will set up camp by a lake with glistening blue water. The next day, spend the night in the camp and decide whether to hike or climb Manglik Sar (6,050 meters). After traversing the Shimshal Pass and descending into Arbob Peyreen, you will arrive back at Shimshal Village. After leaving Shimshal Village, you will make your way to Karimabad, where you will spend the night. You will proceed to Naran Town the next day via the Karakoram Highway, which provides an amazing vista of Nanga Parbat in the distance.

Spend a night in Naran and then make your way to Islamabad the next day. We will transport you to Islamabad International Airport for your trip home after you have spent the night in Islamabad. Please make sure to book your return flight from Islamabad on the last day of the Itinerary. This is where your Shimshal Pass Trek trip comes to an end.

Detailed Trip Itinerary

 

Day 01 (Islamabad Arrival)

  • Greetings from Pakistan. You’re going to the Islamabad International Airport today.
  • After a friendly greeting at the airport, our representative will transport you to your Islamabad hotel.
  • As a welcome beverage, the hotel will serve you tea or coffee. Take this chance to socialize with other trekkers.
  • Take a nap to recuperate from your lengthy flight after the drink. We will get together over dinner to go over specifics regarding your trek to K2 base camp.
  • Transfer to hotel for overnight stay

 

Day 02 (Islamabad – Naran) (09 Hours’ Drive)

  • Following breakfast, you will depart from the green capital and travel north to Naran Town, where you will spend the night. Historic towns like as Taxila, Hassan Abdal, Abbot Abad, and Naran will be traversed.
  • Beginning in Hasan Abdal, the Karakoram Highway runs northward to Mansehra, where it turns right to merge with Naran Road, which leads to Naran. Known for its lush green valley,
  • Naran is a little village that attracts many local tourists for quick getaways.
  • You’ll get a nice night’s sleep because it will be considerably colder here.

 

Day 03 (Naran – Hunza) (09 Hours’ Drive)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • After continuing your amazing journey on Naran Road in the morning, you will join the well-known Karakoram Highway and travel to Karimabad.
  • China and Pakistan collaborated to build the Karakoram Highway, which was finished in 1973.
  • En route you will pass Babusar Pass, the junction point of Karakoram – Himalaya – Hindukush, a breathtaking view of Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi (7,788m) peak.

Day 04 (Rest Day in Hunza)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • The Hunza Valley’s capital is Karimabad. It is situated just beneath Ultar Peak (7,833 m) and attractively above the Valley.
  • You will have a whole day to spend exploring the 700-year-old Baltit and Altit Fort, as well as the nearby Bazar.
  • You will proceed to Eagle Nest in the evening, which is a fantastic location to watch the sunset and offers the ideal vantage point of Rakaposhi (7,788m) Peak and Hunza Valley.

Day 05 (Hunza – Shimshal) (3100m) (04 Hours’ Drive)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • After driving down the Hunza River to Passu, you will re-join the Karakoram Highway today and turn right to travel the Shimshal Road to Shimshal Village.
  • To go to Shimshal, you will pass Attaabad Lake, Gulmit, and a few other picturesque Hunza Valley settlements.
  • You will arrive in Shimshal about lunchtime, and you will have the afternoon to visit the village and learn about the locals’ way of life.
  • Shimshal is a traditional tiny Historical Village with a population of roughly 1,100 people. The Wakhi ethnic tribe of Shimshal Valley calls it home.
  • Night stay in Shimshal valley

 

Day 06 (Shimshal – Past Furzeen) (3360m) (07 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • The retreat to Shimshal Pass is called Shimshal Village. On this first day of the Shimshal Pass Trek, you will be walking. Since your body is still adjusting to the thin air at a high altitude, the first walking day of the trek is usually the hardest.
  • To get to Garsar, where you will have lunch, you will have to cross two bridges.
  • You will proceed to the Past Furzeen campground for the night after lunch.

Day 07 (Past Furzeen – Arbob Peryeen) (3930m) (06 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • You will pass local Shimshali people who are ascending or descending Shimshal Pass as you continue your amazing Shimshal Pass Trek to Arbob Pyreen camp after spending the night in the camp.
  • A portion of the trek’s routes go over the Chichan Bridge to cross a river and a steep slope. The bridge is named Chichan Bridge because Chichan gave the Shimshal village the money needed to build it. After lunch at Parin, you’ll go on to Arbob Peyreen.
  • You will be treated to breathtaking views of Chashkin (6,000 m), Manglik Sar (6,050 m), and numerous other well-known Karakoram Peaks during the day.

Day 08 (Arbob Peryeen – Shuijerab) (4450m) (06 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • Today will be a leisurely trekking day with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. You are going to walk to Shuijarab after breakfast. The Shimshalis’ summer herd village is called Shuijarab.
  • The majority of the Shimshal Valley’s ladies spent three to four months there on the gorgeous green meadow with their sheep, goats, and yaks. They gather cheese, butter, and yeast throughout their visit, which they utilize to survive the hard winter.
  • The Shimshali Valley’s shepherdesses are renowned for their warmth, friendliness, and hospitality. This is a fantastic chance to interact with people and observe their way of life in order to get a genuine travel experience.

Day 09 (Rest Day)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • You have the day off to spend with the Shimshal Valley summer herd. If you want to see the daily activity of Yakes and other cattle heading out for the day from their yards, get up early in the morning.
  • Discover the customs and daily lives of the Shimshali shepherds in this summer pasture. This is a wonderful chance to have a real travel experience.

Day 10 (Shuijarab – Shimshal Pass) (4750m) (06 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • You are going to hike to Shimshal Pass today, after staying two nights at Shuijarab. After a challenging first few hours of trekking, you will be rewarded with views of the crystal-clear blue water of Shimshal Pass lakes and a verdant meadow.
  • Your tents will be pitched along the shore of Shimshal Pass Lake.
  • Savor the breathtaking vista of the majestic Karakoram Peaks, including Manglik Sar.
  • Every year, the Yak racing festival at Shimshal Pass is organised by residents of Shimshal Valley and takes place at the end of July or the beginning of August.
  • Locals participate in this traditional Yak race, which is followed by dancing and singing. This is the only race in the world, thus if you are trekking Shimshal Pass during that period, you should enjoy this festival.

Day 11 (Shimshal Pass – Climb Manglik Sar) (6,050m) (12 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • It’s optional to climb or walk to Manglik Sar (6,050m) today. No specialized knowledge or gear is required, but you must be physically capable of completing a trek that takes 10 to 12 hours round trip, with a 1500 meter climb and 1500 meter descent. For the top, you might require an ice axe and crampons.
  • You will enjoy an amazing view of the K2 and Mustagh Peak ranges, among many other well-known peaks, from the top of Manglik Sar.
  • You will have another day to take in Shimshal Pass’s splendor if you decide without climbing Manglik Sar.

 

Day 12 (Shimshal Pass – Shuijarab) (4,450m) (05 Hours Trek)

  • It’s time to bid farewell to Shimshal Pass’s verdant meadow. Following the equipment packing, you will begin your descent to Shuijarab for the overnight stay.

 

Day 13 (Shuijarab – Arbob Peryeen) (3,930m) (05 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • We keep walking backwards until we reach the Arbob Peyreen camp, which offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and glaciers.

 

Day 14 (Arbob Peryeen – Past Furzeen) (3,360m) (05 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • Have fun hiking back to Past Furzeen. The final night spent in camp beneath the stars will be this one.

 

Day 15 (Past Furzeen – Shimshal) (3,100m) (05 Hours Trek)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • The Shimshal Pass Trek’s final day of walking is today. You will walk along the Shimshal River towards Shimshal Village after breakfast.
  • You’ll get at Shimshal by late afternoon or early evening. You can spend the remainder of the day exploring the village and getting to know the locals to gain a better understanding of their way of life.
  • Transfer to hotel for overnight stay

 

Day 16 (Shimshal – Hunza) (04 Hours’ Drive)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • After bidding your porters and crews farewell in the village, proceed along Shimshal Road to the Karakoram Highway intersection. From there, drive along the Hunza River and down the Hunza Valley to Karimabad.
  • The Attabad tunnel, which was constructed to connect Khunjerab Pass, will be traversed.
  • A landslide that closed off the whole Hunza Valley in January 2010 gave rise to Attabad Lake. Before the nearby road and tunnels were finished, boats were required to transport all traffic across the Attabad Lake. Nowadays, this blue-water lake’s boating is limited to visitors who come to take in the picturesque scenery of the mountains.
  • After arriving in Karimabad at midday, we have free time to explore the city or shop for locally crafted items at the local market.

Day 17 (Hunza – Naran) (08 Hours’ Drive)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • We will go to re-join the Karakoram Highway and drive through the Hunza Valley to reach Naran after enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. The Hunza River splits the Hunza Valley in half. Nagar will be on your left, and Hunza on your right. The bulk of Rakaposhi Mountain (7,788m) dominates Nagar.
  • We are going to pause at the Rakaposhi (7,788m) viewpoint for a photo op and a tea break.
  • You will pass the view of the three longest mountain ranges in the world, the Himalaya, Karakoram-Hindukush, and Nanga Parbat, after reaching Rakaposhi (7,788m).
  • Before Chilas, you will take the Babusar Pass on the Naran Road, which will lead you to Naran, where you will spend the night.

Day 18 (Naran – Islamabad) (08 Hours)

  • Breakfast early in the morning
  • We are going to be traveling to Islamabad today. Other historically significant and culturally rich towns that we will pass through are Abbot Abad, Hassan Abdal, Haripur, and Taxila.
  • A significant ancient Indian archeological site, Taxila is located roughly 32 km to the northwest of Islamabad. The city of Taxila dates its founding to approximately 1000 BCE.
  • Some ruins at Taxila date to the time of the Achaemenid Empire in the 6th century BCE.
  • Reaches Islamabad
  • Transfer to hotel for overnight stay

 

Day 19 (Spare Day in Islamabad)

  • Breakfast at early in the morning
  • You have the entire day to explore the green capital city of Islamabad if you were able to catch a flight there yesterday.
  • See the Islamabad Monument, Parliament Square, and the Faisal Mosque before traveling to the nearby city of Rawalpindi.
  • The historical and traditional city of Rawalpindi will introduce you to the flavors of southern Pakistan. Situated on the Pothohar Plateau, which is well-known for its long history of Buddhism, particularly in the nearby town of Taxila.
  • Enjoy a local Pakistani curry at the Magnificent Food Streets for your final meal in Pakistan after a full day of sightseeing.

Day 20 (Departure | Fly Back Home)

  • Breakfast at early in the morning
  • You will be taken to Islamabad International Airport for your flight home after breakfast “Shimshal Pass Trek ” has ended.
