Spantik Base Camp Trek

Spantik Base Camp Trek

In Pakistan’s Karakoram Range, the Spantik Base Camp Trek offers some of the greatest hiking experiences. Once a seldom visited peak at 7027 meters, Spantik Peak has attracted thousands of adventure seekers because of its low complexity and straightforward approach. Situated just a few days from Skardu City, the Spantik Base Camp Trek offers the ideal trekking experience that other treks might not be able to offer.

The walk to Spantik Base Camp offers a moderate hiking terrain that gets a little steeper as you go. The trail winds through green pastures and glaciers that are encircled by ice peaks or snow-capped rock. The adventure begins in Skardu, from where we drive 4×4 Jeeps to the Shigar Valley town of Arando.

We’ll go along the Basha River via Shigar’s verdant valley all the way to Arando. Before the walk, the journey to Arando itself is an adventure. The final village and populated area in Spantik Base Camp trek is Arando. After that, the trip to Balocho Camp consists primarily of grasslands and rugged terrain with numerous peaks rising to 5,600 meters in the surrounding area. The final two days of the trek are spent mostly on glaciers leading to Spantik Base Camp.

The South East and North West ridges are the two main features of the Spantik Base Camp Trek because the snow ridge in the southeast is lengthy and strenuous, with few areas of technical difficulties and minimal objective danger.

Accordingly, on July 5, 1955, a group headed by K. Kramer ascended this route. However, the North West (Golden Pillar) is a gigantic ice and rock formation. British climbers Victor Saunders and Mick Fowler are the first to successfully reach the top on this route. An excellent next step for individuals who have already climbed a 6000-meter trekking peak or are getting ready for an 8000-meter adventure, Spantik is a true Himalayan scale objective.
